Stacey, Sonia, and Keith volunteering at the 2010 Winter Games Special Olympics at Sugarloaf on Monday and Tuesday. We represented the Young Agents Association in Maine. A group associated with the NAIW. Our jobs were to help the athletes to the award stands, help them remove gear (such as snow shoes) and hand out some medals. It was a very rewarding experience. The athletes braved extreme cold and wind. The temperature on Monday was about 18 degrees below zero wind chill. On Tuesday morning the wind had died, but the temperature was at -5 degrees. The athletes competed in snow shoe races, slalom, downhill, and dual ski. Many volunteers were from the NAIW and various agents and adjusters. Also, the Lewiston Police force and the State Police were on hand to award medals.
